    Poplar is on a mission to democratise the creation of augmented reality content. Through our community of over 600 AR creators, our platform has enabled the production of amazing augmented reality experiences for major brands including Universal Music, Sony Music, Warner Music, Fox, L’Oréal, King, Wargaming, Disney and Speedo amongst others.

    This is a great opportunity to join a small but ambitious team in a fast-moving industry with an experienced founding team, strong backing (Founders Factory, Haatch Ventures, Ascension Ventures) and an array of exciting clients.

    We’re looking for a UX/UI Designer to join our growing team based in Clerkenwell to primarily help define the UX and design of our platform, research and design new features and develop our brand. As a small startup and the first design hire, this role will suit an all-rounder with both strong visual design skills as well as a keen interest in designing user-friendly products, ideally with some experience of 3D work.

    • Conducting research to understand users and their needs
    • Concepting, designing, prototyping, testing and iterating product ideas
    • Delivering bold and pioneering visual designs
    • Developing the Poplar brand and building out the visual language
    • Contributing to the design of innovative augmented reality products
    • Ensuring client pitches are presented in a professional and engaging style


    • Strong portfolio of products that demonstrate beautiful and effective design
    • Ability to rapidly prototype ideas using whichever tools you see fit
    • Strong visual design skills and expertise with design packages such as Photoshop and Illustrator
    • Desire to build a user-centric design process in an agile environment
    • Strong empathy for users and understanding of various techniques to discover their needs
    • Desire to work with rapidly evolving technology in the world of AR
    • Ability to understand complex technical concepts
    • Desire to become a key team member and shape a strong culture both personally and professionally as the company grows
    • Understanding of how to design for the web and mobile devices
    • Familiarity with modern design practices, trends and frameworks


    • Experience with Sketch and Invision
    • Understanding of UX/design patterns in the context of augmented reality
    • Experience working with 3D objects/design packages such as Blender and Cinema 4D
    • Past experience working in a B2B environment
    • Experience building and leading design teams
    • Experience working with WordPress
    • Animation/video editing skills
    • HTML/CSS skills
