👋 Hey, We're Founders Factory
Founders Factory is improving the odds of startup success, empowering anyone to impact the world through entrepreneurship.
We’re changing the venture model, trusting our ability to make a real difference to the companies we invest in. Our platform gives entrepreneurs market access to multi-national corporates, and bespoke operational support from a big and brilliant team. This allows us to do things that don’t scale, tailoring a program to every startup that joins. Letting our startups tap into skills they need but can’t yet access.
All of this is funded by our corporate partners, but their role is not simply cash. They bring the best bits of their businesses to our startups - validation, distribution, insight and capital. These are ingredients that startups others don’t have, which is why you see startups here that can not exist anywhere else.
We’re here so founders who see the future differently get the skills they need to make it a reality. We’re proud to back founders others wouldn’t and we back ourselves to make them successful. We know the biggest impact comes from those that don’t fit the mould so we’ve made Founders Factory their home.
We're looking for someone to join our Venture Design team, the team responsible for designing new ventures for our incubator.
Venture Design, as we define it, is the process of identifying and forming new business opportunities using human-centred design principles; rather than leaving a startup to be created by chance, venture design allows businesses to be created on demand.
The team’s primary purpose is to identify a compelling opportunity, and a reasonable means to get a business started. Our venture design process is not about creating an exact business blueprint, as finding product market fit is an exercise in itself. Instead our aim is to give the founding team a foundation to build upon, usually consisting of:
An opportunity: Identify market gap and unmet user need or desire.
A solution: A credible solution hypothesis on how to address that need.
A go to market approach: Clear differentiating factors and an unfair advantage.
To put it another way, if Founders Factory made TV shows, the Venture Design team would be responsible for the pilot episode.
As a Venture Designer, you will be teasing out problems, hypothesising solutions, testing and validating their appeal, and thinking about the commercial foundations for new businesses. This involves rapid experimentation, so we’re looking for individuals who walk the line between product design, product strategy and commercial rigour.
It’s likely that you have a curious and creative mind, eager to understand what makes people tick with the ability to apply a commercial lens to everything you do. Start-ups and the tech space in general is probably of deep interest to you; you should love building products that users rave about and working across different projects with lots of competing priorities at pace. You thrive in a startup environment and probably subscribe to lean methodologies and principles of product development.
