Buying a house is one of the biggest financial transactions a person can make, yet the process is slow, opaque and costly. We at Acre are going to change that by creating the first truly digital end-to-end mortgage in the UK. By completely re-imaging the process using analytics and smart contracts on blockchain, we’ll be able to make getting a mortgage faster, less cumbersome, more certain, and ultimately cheaper. We have significant funding from a heavyweight in the UK financial market, which puts us in a unique position to execute on our vision and a clear path to reach customers.
We are looking for a senior backend developer that wants to be in from the beginning of our exciting journey. Your role will be to work closely with the CTO and the broader team to help integrate the different systems in the mortgage lifecycle in a manner that is highly reliable, consistent, and secure. You will be highly motivated, be technology agnostic, and be passionate and proud of the work you produce. Our team believes in user-centric product design, and you will be building a backend to power an iconic, beautiful system unlike anything in the market today.
What you’ll be doing:
Central to making the process faster, more certain, and less cumbersome is to have an integrated, secure, and consistent infrastructure. You’ll be helping to architecture and build that core system so that it is always available and that allows data flows seamlessly between the different components and parties in the mortgage process while at the same time being securely maintained. You’ll be making sure that the security, consistency, and auditability of this process can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of external regulators.
You will be expected to write reusable, tested, and efficient code that is always production ready and to be responsible for the whole life cycle of the components you build.
During our software development life cycle, you will be expected to work with the business as a whole, converting business requirements into development tasks as well as mentoring junior team members.
Who you will be:
Passionate about software engineering and about delivering a quality product.
Have a 2:1 or higher degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or other scientific discipline.
Highly experienced in automated testing platforms and unit tests.
An understanding of how to architect products for reliability and security.
Experience of a wide-range of languages, frameworks, and patterns.
Significant experience of issue management, code versioning, continuous integration, and deployment tools.
Experience developing against MicroService or API frameworks.
Preferably with an experience of delivering products that have been successfully audited in accordance with ISO27001 or similar standards.
What we offer:
Chance to join a fully funded, but new Fintech startup in a unique position to make a difference to the mortgage market.
Competitive compensation package.
25 days leave.
Vibrant Central London office, alongside other growing startups, with weekly lunches, as much tea, coffee, biscuits, and fruit as you can handle, and Paul's Irish Bar.
Private healthcare, pension plan and cycle to work scheme.
