The latest cohort of Founders Factory’s Western Australia Nature Tech Accelerator, backed by the WA Cook Government, includes six startups across biodiversity, oceans and water, land and forests, and nature-based industry
WA startups feature prominently, including Indigenous-owned oceanic innovator Tidal Moon and sustainable biofuel producer Ecogas, while international startups include prominent UK conservation fundraising platform Earthly, who will expand their operations to WA
Perth, April 10th 2025: Global venture builder and investor Founders Factory, in partnership with the Government of Western Australia, have selected six new startups innovating in nature, biodiversity, and industry’s impact on the environment to join their Nature Tech Accelerator.
Launched in 2024 and now in its second cohort, Founders Factory’s latest Nature Tech cohort includes four early stage startups from Western Australia, as well as startups from the UK and Canada.
The six startups are:
Ecogas—produces biofuels from anaerobic digestion as an affordable and scalable alternative to natural gas and green hydrogen (Perth, Australia)
Eden Towers—sustainable vertical farms producing high-yield horticultural and specialty crops with zero-waste processes (Perth, Australia)
Raaise—fundraising platform that streamlines capital raising for pro-planet startups (Margaret River, Australia)
Tidal Moon—seagrass restoration and sustainable development of marine resources (Shark Bay, Australia)
Earthly—enabling businesses to invest in high-integrity, nature-based projects (London, UK)
Tree Track—AI-driven aerial seeding solutions using patented seedpods and drones to reforest cost-effectively and at scale (Port Coquitlam, Canada)
These ventures aim to solve tensions between industry and nature, felt closely in Western Australia but also on a global scale. Ecogas, for instance, addresses Australia’s landmark policy for heavy industries to reduce emissions by 5% each year, by helping companies access cheaper, scalable green fuel alternatives.
Having recently won the election in March 2025, the Cook Government shows continued support for WA innovators and start ups. Western Australia is not only one of the world’s richest biodiversity hotspots, it is also a centre of Australian industry. WA’s agriculture industry is fundamental to Australia, as the country’s largest grain producer, while the State’s mineral rich landscape has made it a historical global centre of mining and mining innovation.
The Hon. Stephen Dawson, Minister for Science and Innovation: “WA is home to Australia’s biggest industrial economy and also hosts a wealth of biodiversity. WA provides a unique platform for entrepreneurs looking to find better ways to build resilience in industry and nature through how these two spheres overlap. The quality of these six startups demonstrates the breadth of innovation and ingenuity of our local talent, as well as entrepreneurs looking to scale their technologies in WA.”
The six Nature Tech startups will participate in a four-month support program designed to assist them in discovering use cases for their technologies and capitalising on commercial opportunities. The program includes tracks focused on operational excellence (spanning functions such as product, growth, and data science), partner engagement (opportunity mapping, pilot and POC pitching), fundraising, and events. This includes a residential program, where participants will have the opportunity to network with relevant WA government officials and identify potential pilot opportunities, and for the international startups to advance their operations in WA.
Tamryn Barker, nature tech sector director, Founders Factory: “Western Australia has proved itself to be the perfect arena to develop breakthrough technologies that can solve the biggest challenges facing our economy and environment. We’re delighted to be working closely with the WA Government to uncover bold new startups that will help us enhance nature and biodiversity, build resilience in agriculture, reforestation, marine restoration and decarbonisation of heavy industry.”
